It’s a breakthrough revelation when as a new gardeners we come to the realisation that soil is fundamental for successful plant growth. Worms are evidence of soil health and healthy worm farms produce rich wonderful castings to enrich our soil.
One of our members, Nikki, has made herself a star among us by taking on the task of improving our 3 worm farms. Nikki excels in her self-driven quest to increase her knowledge and expertise about worm farming. She explained to me with evident delight how she adds coffee grounds saved from her kitchen together with shredded paper to organic vegetable matter and gently turns the concoction once a week to aerate. Fabulous recycling and the resulting product after worm digestion is a soft, fluffy medium of worm castings worthy of our abiding awe.
