Golden Snow Peas

It’s exciting to experiment with unusual varieties in the garden. Our Golden Snow Peas are shining a pretty lemon-yellow, with flat thin pods and a gentle bulge of tiny seeds. These are an heirloom variety of snow pea, and rather rare to see. In the flower stage they flash a beautiful purple colour .

My reading says they pair especially well with carrots and parsley. gardeningjones from Pennsylvania, USA wrote in Horticultural Magazine hortmag (June 25, 2013) that they’re best harvested when small, before inner seeds begin to develop; and can also be harvested later (and larger) to shell and dry the peas for soups. As is often the case, prompt harvesting will yield a more abundant crop.
